Every A1 Web Server webhosting account has a disk
space quota. This is the maximum allowable amount of
space which you are allowed to use on our servers.
What Is Included?
When calculating how much space you are
using, we consider the size of the files on your
website, any email stored on the server, as well as
space used by any databases you have created or
applications you have installed. In a nutshell - if it
is taking up space on a hard drive, and belongs to
you, we count it towards your quota.
What Happens When I Exceed My Quota?
Bad things happen. You can no longer
receive email, you can't upload or modify files, and
your site statistics stop working.
How Do I Know If I'm Getting Close?
In your control panel you can update
your contact information by providing an email
address. This will tell the server where to email a
notification when you are getting close to exceeding
your quota.
What If I've Exceed My Quota?
If you've already exceeded your disk
quota, you may do one of two things:
You may clear up space on the server by
deleting unwanted files and email - or - you may
upgrade your webhosting package to give you more
allowable disk space.
I Have A Very Small Website - Why Am
I Out Of Disk Space?
Very often, clients run out of disk
space because they are storing old emails on the
server. You should ensure that your email client is
deleting emails from the server after it downloads
them. You may configure this in your advanced email
options in Outlook or Outlook Express.
I've Checked That I'm Deleting
Emails From The Server - But I'm Still Exceeding My
Quota - WHY?
If you have Spam Box enabled in your
control panel, all of your spam messages are being
stored on the server. to delete them from the server,
you need to download them to your own PC.
How Do I Download My Spam Box
Messages?
Spam box moves all the mail flagged
as spam to a separate mailbox called spam within the
same email account. If you want to check the spam
account, enable spam box, then simply add "/spam" to
the end of your normal username in your email client,
or when accessing webmail.
